THE BEGINNINGS
GET TO KNOW US
The history of Carmelitas begins in 1938, when Mr. Rodrigo Aguirre and his wife MarÃa del Carmen Ruvalcaba founded the first restaurant on Isla de la Piedra, Mazatlán, Sinaloa.
It all started with a small palapa on the seashore, where they offered handmade tortillas, quesadillas, coconuts, and soft drinks to visitors and locals who came looking for an authentic spot by the beach.

A FAMILY TRADITION
Since its inception, the restaurant has been run by the family, passing from generation to generation.
Today, the legacy continues under the management of his daughter Carmelita Aguirre, who has kept the essence of the place alive: simple, fresh cuisine with a true local flavor.

GROWTH AND LEGACY
In 2007, Ana Clarisa Aguirre, granddaughter of the founders and daughter of Carmelita Aguirre, decided to expand the family vision and founded Carmelitas Hotel Boutique, a welcoming space with 25 rooms that complements the restaurant experience and offers visitors a place to relax and connect with the tranquility of the island.
